What to focus on when reading results

The habits that make a class of thirty reports take twenty minutes instead of two hours.

• Triage, do not read in order. Sort by verdict and start with Flagged and Inconclusive. Consistent reports rarely need you.
• Read the quotes, not the prose. The rationale is a summary; the quotes are the evidence, and they are what you would cite in a meeting.
• Watch the gap between the submission and the conversation. A polished paper with a hesitant interview is the single most informative pattern in Viva.
• Do not read fluency as understanding. A student who speaks slowly and gets there is stronger than one who speaks smoothly and does not.
• Use the class view before the individual view. What a whole cohort could not explain is a teaching finding, not thirty separate student problems.
