Is Viva actually adaptive?

Yes, in two ways: the questions are built per submission, and the follow-ups respond to what the student just said.

Worth being precise, because "adaptive" is a word every product claims.

  • Adaptive across students: each interview is generated from that student's own submission. No shared question bank.
  • Adaptive within the conversation: a vague answer gets pressed, a strong answer moves on, and a claim that contradicts the submission gets checked.
  • Adaptive in length, if you choose the Adaptive duration: 6-9 minutes depending on how much probing the answers need.

What it is not: it does not adapt difficulty to a student's past performance across assignments. Each interview judges the work in front of it, which keeps the standard the same for everyone.
