What is the data policy, and is student data used for training?
Identifiable student data never trains a model; de-identified data may, unless a student or your school opts out. Here is what is stored, for how long, and who can see it.

- Nothing that identifies a student ever trains a model, ours or a provider's. From September 20, 2026, de-identified transcripts and submission text may be used to improve Viva, including its AI; a student can opt out in Settings, and your school can opt out for everyone in its agreement with us. Voice recordings and Voice ID never are.
- Interview audio and transcripts are retained so you can review a grade, and are purged on the published schedule: audio normally 90 days after the grade is released.
- Voice comparison requires the student's explicit consent and can be declined without penalty.
- Instructors see their own students. School admins see aggregates, not individual reports.
- Subprocessors are named in the privacy policy, including the model providers that process transcripts.
