I never got the code to confirm my account

The code goes only to the address you typed at signup. Check it on the Check your email screen, then resend, or start over with the right address.

The code goes only to the address you typed when you signed up, and the Check your email screen shows that address. Read it letter by letter first: two swapped letters, like coloardo.edu for colorado.edu, send the code to a place that does not exist.

  • The address has a typo: next to Wrong email?, choose Start over and sign up again with the right address. If you were joining a class, Start over brings back its link or class code.
  • The address is right: click Resend email. Each resend cancels the previous code, so type the code from the newest email. Check your spam or junk folder as well.
  • Resend email says mail to the address bounced: the domain is real but that mailbox does not exist, which usually means a typo before the @. Choose Start over and sign up again with the right address.

Your first account does not get in the way. If it was never confirmed or used, and Viva can tell its code never reached you (a domain that does not exist or takes no email, such as coloardo.edu, a slip on a common provider such as gmai.com, or an address mail has already bounced from), signing up again with your name does not stop to ask whether it is you: your new account joins the class in its place.

The sign-up form checks your address before it creates the account. If the domain cannot receive email, the form says so and offers the likely fix, such as colorado.edu for coloardo.edu: click Use with the corrected address. If the domain looks like a slip on a common provider, such as gmai.com for gmail.com, the form asks once whether you meant the common one. If your address really is different, choose Keep.

Resent to the right address and still nothing after a few minutes? Your school mail filter may be holding the message. Ask your instructor or school IT to let mail from vivaproof.com through, or contact us.

This is one page of the documentation inside Viva.

Instructors get the rest: the walkthroughs, the screenshots, and Ask Viva, which finds the right page from a typed question.
